You’ve been telling us since we started, and we’ve believed it all along.
Now the ‘big cheeses’ in the world have agreed:
Isle of Wight Blue from the Isle of Wight Cheese Company is the best in England!
Isle of Wight Blue has recently won the Fortnum
and Mason sponsored ‘Best English Cheese 2007’ at The World Cheese
Awards.
We entered the awards to raise awareness
of IW Blue and were over the moon to learn it had received a Gold award in its
class – 20b, Naturally Rinded Blue Cheese from the UK, Uncut, Foil Wrapped. Imagine our delight when we were invited to the
International Food Exhibition in London a short time later for the final judging stages.
There we learned that Isle of Wight Blue
was this years' Best English Cheese winner.
Rich was presented with his trophy by
Robert Marsham of Fortnum & Mason, who congratulated us on our
success.
It means so much to know that something
we believe in and take great pride in producing, has been recognised on such a
grand scale by our industry.
It also means that our rounds of Isle of
Wight Blue are in great demand, and we’re making more and more to replenish the
stocks.
May 2007 saw the permanent return of the popular white mould-ripened Isle
of Wight Soft. Similar to a brie/camembert, this cheese comes in an attractive poplar wood box - Ideal as a souvenir to keep or to give as a gift from the Island.
In November 2007 we released our third cheese 'Gallybagger'. This is a 7 month old cheddar type hard pressed cheese that matures in our ripening room while sat on locally cut sycamore wood.
Why not visit our
stalls at The Island Farmers' Markets in Newport
(Friday 9am-2pm) and Ryde
(Saturday 8.30am-12.30) where you can meet us, sample the cheeseboard and also try our own handmade Queen Bower Butter. It's churned every Thursday so that it is always fresh for the weekend markets.
We want to thank you for all your well
wishes and support.
Here’s to a fantastic cheese!
